Maitai bay

 W.A.L.T upload our Maitai Bay poster from a few weeks ago.

Tui class went to Maitai Bay a few weeks ago. We then made some brochures about Maitai Bay . I made my brochure with Danny.

Here is my one.

 

I learnt Maitai Bay is actually the shape of a horse shoe.

I enjoyed researching the information about Maitai Bay.

I could of improved by making my subheadings a bit larger.

 W.A.L.T upload a post showing what we learnt in kiwi can today.

Tui class went to kiwi can today and we play three games and they are called snap, crackle, pop and the second one is so, ma, ca, lo and the third is GKQ. We had lots of fun. To play snap crackle and pop you have to get in groups of three. one person is called snap, the second person is called crackle and the last person is called pop. All the groups get into a circle and in the middle is a shoe, so one person yells out snap, crackle or pop.  

how did i show respect today? I showed respect by not talking over the speaker.

what did i enjoy? I enjoyed playing snap crackle pop.

what could i improve on? i could improve on pushing my harder.

Pool session with Oliver

Tui Whanau went to the Te Punawai Ora pools yesterday to participate in the Experiencing Marine Reserves Programme. This programme teaches us how to snorkel so we can look at marine life and how it is affected by humans. We had to have a snorkelling lesson in a pool to prepare us for our session at Matai Bay next week. We wore a wetsuit, flippers, snorkel and mask in the pool with us, so we knew what it would feel like. 

 

I learnt how to snorkel and go underwater with a snorkel. I enjoyed swimming because I was with my friends. My goal is to swim a longer distance.

Waitangi trip

W.A.L.T reflect on our class trip. 

On Tuesday, my class went to Waitangi treaty grounds, in Waitangi grounds and we went all round the museum, and we saw lots of wakas and the tree they used to make the wakas. There were lots of carvings on the wakas and there were a few rude ones.

I learnt a lot about the wakas because of the carvings and and what they were used for.

I found the tree facts very interesting because I have never heard about that tip of tree before.

Today was our second day back at Kiwi Can and we played 5 games and they were fun.

One of the games had  Maori Words in it and an others was traffic lights and color run and walk,stop,jump,run, clap. 

I enjoyed running around with my friends.

I found that listening to the Maori Words challenging.

Today we went to kiwi can and did lots of games and here is our catchphrase for the term or week. Here are the games and catchphrase:

1. High tide, low tide.
2. Impossible connection.
3. GKQ

We take ownership of what we do.

My favourite game that we played today was impossible connection. To play this game music is played and you dance until it stops. When the music stops you have to pause and listen for your instructions for example, 3 heads. That then meant you had to join a group of 3 with your heads. Whoever was last out, had to go and sit out. 

I enjoyed all of it today because the games were very fun. I had not played them before so it was interesting and fun.

I found getting up and down on the chairs challenging because I kept moving the chair on accident.

W.AL.T we are learning to upload a task from this week.

Today I did some maths and I worked with a teacher ad because the maths was a bit hard for me.

Whatever number was after the first number we had to skip count in that number till you get to the first      number in the front. here is an example: 20 divided by 5=4 

                                                             5 10 15 20= 4 groups.

I enjoyed skip counting because it is easy.

I did well in counting because I don't like counting usually.

I could improve on doing it on my own, instead with a teacher aide, because it was easy.

geometric art.

 W.A.L.T we are learning to upload our geometric art from this week.

We had to draw an Animal of our choice and I chose a horse.

We had to get a piece of paper, draw our animals head, use vivided on the outlines, coloured it in then cut it out and then glued it on to a black piece of paper. The last step was to cut it out and leave a black border, so it looked like it had a black line around it.

I enjoyed colouring in the picture. I did well at it. I could have improved on getting it done in one day.

My farther's day card that I did with Miss Hall.

W.A.L.T We are learning to upload our art with Miss Hall.

Yesterday we did some art with Miss Hall and we had to make it into a card for some one.

I made a Pahutukawa tree and it was so much to draw and colour in. We coloured our patterns in using colouring pencils.

I did well in concentrating on my task. I could improve on concentrating a we bit more.

The ALIM group

W.A.L.T We are learning to upload one of our tasks from this week.

This week some of my class are in a group called ALIM group. 

In the alim group we we do times tables. I am in the alim group.

times tables are not my favirate tip of maths at all.  

I dont like the alim group. Have you heard of alim group before?

I could have unproved on talking, concentrating and helping myself.   

Matariki star art work.

W.A.L.T We are learning to upload our matariki art.

Last week we did some matariki art. We had to get a big star and a little star and trace the stars once, then we had to draw patterns on the stars. Once we did that we had to colour the star in and the patterns. We cut them out and glued them onto a black piece of paper biggest to smallest.

W.A.L.T we are learning to reflect on our Kiwi can lesson.

This morning tui whanau went to kiwi can and played lots of fun games. Our kiwi can catchphrase was: right is right, even when no one is doing it, wrong is wrong even, when everyone is doing it. This catch phrase helps us remember the meaning of the word 'Integrity'. 

What did I enjoy?

I enjoyed playing Band-Aid tag because it was a fun, new version of tag.

What did I find challenging?

I found Terminator tag challenging because  everyone was running at you and tagging you. It was fun though.

Te Hiku Shortcut Speed Test.

W.A.L.T we are learning to upload our  Shortcut Test and write about it.

Yesterday wheare Donna came in and saw tui whanau at kaingaroa school. We had to find a partner in the classroom,then one of us had to share our partner the sheet. We had to copy and paste as fast as we could. In my speed test, I beat my buddy Brooke and was really proud of myself.

My space art

W.A.L.T we are learning to upload our art and write about it.

Last week we did some space art work. To do the artwork we had to draw rockets, moon, planets, U.F.O, stars and whatever things in space that we could think of. We drew it on A3 papper, then we painted another A3 papper and let it dry. The next day we glued all our space work onto our backgrounds. In my artwork I did well in drawing my rocket.I could improve in my drawing. My favourite part was painting the background.

Hi, today for blogging we had to choose a reading task to put on our blog and I choose the welcome card where we had to make a welcome card to someone who is coming to our school. Hope you like my one.😀

Today I read a book with my teacher miss Thomson, Michael, Beau. The story was called: My name is Rez. The story was about a girl named Rez and her family having to move into a tent with six other families, because there old country was being bombed. Then after that they moved to New Zealand. They had a happy life in New Zealand.
